The Canada Revenue Agency is going electronic, and want you to join in! The CRA is aiming for 80% of all returns in Canada filed electronically, and they’re adding several digital services to facilitate this.

To this end, they are ceasing automatically sending out tax packages in the mail. Paper returns are the source of a great many errors and much wasted processing time, so CRA would like to reduce their use as much as possible.

Customers can order a tax package online starting January 15, 2013 for their income tax preparation needs. However if you really prefer paper you are still be able to get your tax package at the Post Office and Service Canada outlets, with these sources being available as of February 4, 2013. But printed returns take far longer to process. Filing electronically is quick, easy, and most of all, secure. In addition, you get confirmation your return was actually received.

So if you’re thinking of filing your taxes, take advantage of our TaxTron software so you can NETFILE with confidence, or if you don’t feel up to the task, visit one of our Softron locations and one of our representatives will be happy to get your taxes promptly and efficiently.
